MY UX PROCESS
Taylor Swift said in an interview that her songwriting process is different every time. That is no different for every design project. Each project always requires a different approach. However, I always try to start planning my project by using the Double Diamond process. Through this methodology, I always start by asking myself a specific question:
I research the initial problem and I synthesize the data that I gathered to verify the main issues. Once I have my initial assumptions on the problem, I proceed to ask myself:
I create solutions to the problem by ideating, iterating and providing a prototype of my design. After that, I continue testing and after each test, I continuously iterate on my designs and improving my solutions.
1-RESEARCH PHASE
The first part of my process focuses on divergent research based on my initial problem.
Some of the successful ways I have conducted my research were through -
-
User surveys for demographics, behaviors, etc.
-
Conducting user interviews to directly find out their pain points, needs, and behaviors
-
Contextual inquiry such as observing the users' existing behavior patterns
-
Heuristic Evaluation
-
Data Analysis
-
Competitive Analysis
2-SYNTHESIZE PHASE
Once I’ve gathered all of the data from my research, I begin to synthesize them.
I tend to synthesize my research through -
-
Affinity Mapping
-
Feature Prioritization
-
Generating Personas
-
Creating Information Architect Schema
-
Creating User Flows
-
Creating Users' Emotional Journey
3-IDEATE PHASE
Here, I start asking myself, “What are the possible solutions?” This marks the first phase of creating a solution for the problem.
Some of the ways that I design my solutions are through -
-
Design Studios
-
Rapid Prototyping
-
Design Sprints
-
User Testings
4-PROTOTYPE PHASE
Once I have a more concrete solution, I begin to narrow it down through prototyping.

*It is crucial that I work closely with my development engineering team, business team, product team, and the stakeholders during this phase. Everyone must know where the solution is heading so there are no surprises later on.*
With prototyping, I tend to see a similar trait in all of the solutions that were created. I create my solutions to solve the problems by -
-
Iterations (Constant User Testings)
-
Creating Hi-Fidelity Prototypes + Interactive animations
-
Wireframes
